Job Description:

Provide leadership in assessment from developing a program to communicating results.  This position is part of a team of librarians providing reference and instruction services to the campus community.  Guide online library instruction for students using the appropriate technology and methods of online pedagogy.

Approximately 20 hours per week, 12 month position, flexibility required

Position Duties:

Coordinate assessment of library instruction and services by gathering data, preparing reports, monitoring progress, developing instruments, etc.
Participate in campus assessment activities, such as cooperating with other departments, working with campus assessment software, participating in committees.
Maintain currency with trends and developments in assessment.
Communicate with faculty and guide students in online and satellite programs and other programs as needed.
Provide reference assistance.
Collaborate with faculty on instruction and collection development by identifying opportunities for information literacy instruction, preparing appropriate lessons or tutorials, and ensuring students have access to the resources they need.
Depending on time, skills, and abilities, the Librarian may participate in Outreach, Digital Collections, Special Projects, professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

ALA accredited MLS awarded by 9/1/13
Education background preferred

Experience with or a basic understanding of evaluation and assessment.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of information literacy concepts and learning outcomes.
Ability to teach effectively.
Demonstrated strengths in communication and collaboration.
Strong commitment to a user-centered library philosophy.
Demonstrated ability to work positively and productively in a changing environment.
Strong analytical/problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Reference and instruction skills.

Preferred:

Instructional design skills.
Familiarity with assessment planning and data systems.
Familiarity with the information needs of the academic community.
