Job Description:

Provides leadership and expertise for library outreach to internal, local, regional, national, and international communities. Leads the Library’s oral history program. Provides high quality reference and instruction services for both on- and off-site patrons. Conducts regular assessment of outreach activities.

Position Duties:

Leads Library outreach activities and services, including coordination of group visits and programming.
Coordinates and develops outreach activities in collaboration with other Museum departments as opportunities present themselves.
Serves as liasion to The Studio.
Leads oral history program to solicit, interview, record, and collect oral histories from individuals and groups representing a variety of glass fields.
Searches for and pursues or recommends appropriate grants through the Museum grants program.
Provides timely responses to reference requests received in a variety of formats, including telephone, electronic and postal service requests.
Shares coverage of Library Reference Desk with other Reference Services staff.
Coordinates Library submissions to the Museum blog.
Provides individual and group instruction.
Keeps records and statistics of outreach activities.
Conducts ongoing assessment of outreach activities.
Develops and maintains currency with emerging trends and technologies related to library outreach services.
Participates in public services team meetings and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

ALA accredited master’s degree.
Second master’s degree preferred.
Science background desired.
Strong service orientation; knowledge of or experience with successful library outreach programs.
Project management experience preferred.
Experience with grantwriting and grant projects preferred.
Strong knowledge of relevant emerging information technology and public service trends.
Demonstrated knowledge in reference and instruction.
Proficient with computer software programs, including Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated experience working well under pressure, meeting deadlines and adapting quickly to changing library trends and technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in an environment of collaborative problem solving and decision making.
Ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to share and communicate with diverse work styles.
Ability to work with materials in languages other than English.
Ability to work weekends and/or evenings as required.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
