Job Description:

A twelve month, tenure track academic position reporting to the Director of Libraries or a designee. Provides general and specialized reference services; general and specialized library instruction to students, faculty, staff and community. Participates in library-wide initiatives. Provides book selection and collection information for selected departments and participates in outreach activities.

Position Duties:

Provides reference and research services at a desk, via technology, and by appointment; provides library and information literacy instruction in all the library’s programs; creates, revises and maintains tutorials and other supplemental instructional items; participates in library outreach programs; selects and evaluates materials to be added to the library’s collections in collaboration with faculty and other library staff; participates in library-wide programs.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Director of Libraries
Receives assignments from Information Literacy/Instruction Coordinator
Receives assignments from the Research Help Steering Committee

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s of Library Science and/or Information Science from an ALA accredited institution;
Two years or more experience providing reference or research services in a library or archive public service setting;
One year’s experience teaching library/information literacy classes in an academic setting;
Demonstrated ability to develop effective supplemental instruction
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience with library related online tools such as LibGuides;
Demonstrated experience with instruction technologies including Learning Management systems;
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
