Job Description:

(Part-Time, 10-month Seasonal) Under the direction of the Director of Library Services, the Reference and Technical Services Librarian will perform technical service and circulation duties, as well as provide reference assistance and occasionally information literacy instruction
to the college community. Hours will primarily be 8 a.m- 1 p.m.,
Monday-Thursday, from August through May of each academic year, but some evening hours may be required.

Position Duties:

Receive periodicals, maintain periodical records and manage subscription claims Maintain circulation records and provide service at the circulation desk Maintain the reserves collection Process cataloged materials and assist with weeding projects Provide reference service as needed Assist as needed with information literacy instruction, collection development, and other aspects of library operations Other duties assigned to meet the mission of the College

Minimum Qualifications:

ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent
Knowledge of library philosophy, best practices, and trends.
Excellent customer service skills, tact, and the ability to work with a diverse population Excellent oral, written, and communication skills Experience in technical services and reference services Knowledge of Microsoft environments, including Word and Excel Ability to troubleshoot less complex computer problems Maintain a positive attitude that will promote a healthy cultural climate in the Library

Preferred:

Experience working in an academic library

Experience with information literacy instruction

Familiarity with the current ILS (COMPanion Corp. Alexandria)
