This past Wednesday, February 25th, CLRC chartered a bus and met with more central New York library advocates in Albany. Over fifty librarians, trustees, paraprofessionals, students and patrons from our region met with sixteen legislators to remind them that libraries are education and should be funded accordingly.
Appointments were scheduled with Assemblymembers Brindisi, Barclay, Tenney, Magee, Butler, Magnarelli, Roberts, Stirpe, Blankenbush, Finch and Abinanti, the new Chair of the Assembly Library and Education Committee.
The group also met with Senators Farley, Valesky, DeFrancisco, Griffo and Seward. All assured us that library funding was on their legislative priority list.
A big banner size thank you to the students from Beauchamp Branch Library for showing all the folks at the noon rally that libraries changed their lives.
And thanks to everyone for their voices, perseverance and love of libraries.
New 10 Now came out to greet the bus riders. If you missed the coverage, take a look HERE.

If you couldn’t make it to Albany, give them a call. Email them. Tell them Libraries are Education and need to be funded as such.
