Ruth OwensCLRC is extremely happy to announce that Ruth M. Owens, MSLIS, who is Assistant Librarian at SUNY ESF is the first recipient of CLRC’s Professional Development Award. Ruth will be granted $900 to help her attend the annual meeting of the Special Libraries Association in June of 2015.

“I am very grateful to receive a Professional Development Award from CLRC to attend this year’s Special Libraries Association Annual Conference in Boston. These funds will enable me to attend the full conference in June and participate in a Continuing Education course on chemistry resources. I’m most excited about this CE course as it will greatly increase my knowledge as I assist chemistry faculty and staff at my institution. The conference offers many other sessions and opportunities to learn about science and technology information sources which will also be a great benefit to my professional development and the campus community I serve. Thank you CLRC!”

This will be Ruth’s first trip to SLA. Stay tuned for a conference report from Ruth in the months ahead!

CLRC’s Professional Development Award is designed to help make all professional development opportunities available to our members. Members are encouraged to submit proposals early and often, and must have institutional support.
