Job Description:
Position is a tenure-track, full-time, twelve month academic faculty position responsible for the leadership and management of the Teaching Materials Center of Memorial Library reporting to the Director of Libraries.
Position Duties:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Teaching Materials Center including collection development, instruction, programming and collaboration with the teacher education programs of SUNY Cortland;
Understands current trends in teacher education, curriculum libraries and develops collections and programs that reflect those trends;
Collaborates with librarians and technology staff to ensure that the Teaching Materials Center and its services are well understood;
Develops partnerships and programs with the other areas of the library;
Develops and disseminates instructional materials for teaching materials and education information resources using current and emerging technologies; develops displays, and outreach programs;
Maintains the Teaching Materials Center’s web and online presence;
Develops and works with appropriate online learning courses, personnel and faculty;
Participates in the library’s reference and instructional services using traditional and technological means.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Director of Libraries.
Is a colleague to other librarians working in collaboration of library and Information Resources programs.
Works in collaboration and partnership with the faculty in the departments in the School of Education and the Adolescent Education departments.
Salary & Benefits:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from a library and information science program, accredited by the American Library Association.
Minimum of two years of experience working in a library’s public services.
Minimum of two years experience in teaching information literacy/fluency/library instruction.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.
Preferred:
Demonstrated understanding of curriculum libraries and current trends in teacher education.
Demonstrated ability to create online materials, guides, and web-based information using appropriate technology.
Experience and/or knowledge of Common Core and other P-12 curriculum trends.
