CLRC Is very excited to announce three new recipients of our Professional Development Award!

Shari TaylorShari Taylor is Library Director of the Earlville Free Library in Earlville, NY, a member of the Mid-York Library System. Shari will be using her funds to attend the Associaion of Rural and Small Libraries annual meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas.

From Shari: “Thank you so much for providing me with the opportunity to attend the ARSL conference! I am very excited to not only attend workshops and find ways to better serve my library and patrons, but also to network and share ideas with other directors of small libraries! If there is one thing libraries do well its share with others the details of how they do their great stuff!”

Keep an eye out for a report from Shari about her experiences later this Fall!

B Maggie FosterOur second recipient is B. Maggie Foster, who works at the Mundy Branch Library of Onondaga County Public Library System as Librarian for Technology and Job Information. Maggie used her funds to attend ALA earlier this Summer!

From Maggie: “I decided to attend the 2015 ALA Annual Conference so that I could improve on my skills as a leading librarian. The goal was to cultivate my leadership influence as a new librarian at Mundy Branch Library. The experiences I had in San Francisco were so much more than I expected, though. I met librarians from as far away as Alaska, traded knowledge with other new librarians like myself during ALA Mentoring, and got to celebrate Pride with famous figures like Gloria Steinem. I love every minute that I get to shape the future of the world through moments like I had at ALA Annual.”

Jane VerostekLast but not least is Jane Verostek, Associate Librarian at SUNY ESF’s Moon Library. Jane will be using her funds to attend the 2015 Researching NY Conference in Albany, NY.

From Jane: “…attendance of this conference would greatly benefit our archives and organization as I will gain fresh ideas on how to re-invigorate our archives and hopefully learn ways on how to market the archives to our campus and patrons and learn about the best and current archival practices – all of which will help to keep our archives organized, preserved, accessible and most important open to the campus and the public.”

Jane will be reporting back, stay tuned!
