This project was meant to bring together the concept of little libraries and digital forms of information in a community setting. We built 4 little libraries, 2 solar power systems and installed them in 4 quadrants of a rural/suburban town. Most importantly we began a collaboration between the school district, local entities and Town and State government to provide books and digital information at specific locations.
Thanks to the generosity of CLRC, I was able to attend my first-ever American Library Association conference (virtually).
The Library Skills Academy was very informative in providing a history of libraries and an in-depth look at library operations. I gained a strong understanding of customer service and how I can apply it in the academic setting.
This group meets to discuss how best to reach our community to convey a sense of urgency regarding the state of our planet. Our focus is on the three pillars of sustainability: sustainable practices are environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically feasible.
Thanks to the Central New York Libraries Resources Councils Professional Development Grant I was able to participate in NYLA’s 2021 Developing Leader’s Program! It was such a wonderful opportunity and rich experience that helped me strengthen and cultivate my leadership skills.
We hosted a Paint Party via Zoom on December the 2nd, from 6-7 PM. The teacher was Jill Rae Vennera, of Easels on the Gogh. We gave away 20 8 x 10 canvases, each with two brushes and five containers of paint. Attendance was actually 26, because some people had their own supplies. We received lots of positive feedback from the attendees and requests for another program.
We purchased items and assembled circulating kits in a backpack which include binoculars, a magnifying glass and short format, engaging reading material about local flora and fauna.
Thanks to CLRC’s professional development grant, I was able to attend a 6-week online course on the topic of web archiving, which is gaining a lot more attention in the archives profession.
With the assistance of the CLRC, I was able to participate in a Mindful Leadership certificate program that reviewed the precepts of secular mindfulness and suggested how a daily mindfulness practice helps develop non-judgmental awareness and communication strategies that enhance leadership effectiveness.
