On behalf of CLRC’s Immediate Past President and current Chair of the Nominating Committee, Jane Verostek (SUNY ESF, Moon Library), as well as the entire 2016 Nominating Committee (Danielle Masursky, SU iSchool; Laura Schlueter, Upstate Medical University Library; Amanda Perrine, Marcellus Free Library; Jennifer Milligan, Manlius Library), CLRC is pleased to announce the two nominees recommended to fill the open positions on CLRC’s Board of Trustees for the 2016 – 2020 term.

Cynthia Kesler, Supreme Court Law Library

Renewing for her second term on the Board, and representing the interests of special libraries, is Cynthia J. Kesler of the Supreme Court Law Library in Syracuse, NY. Since 2001, Cindy has served as the Principal Law Librarian for the 5th Judicial District of New York. She received her M.L.S. from Syracuse University in 1980 and has worked in legal settings ever since, previously including the Mackenzie, Smith, Lewis, Mitchell & Hughes Law Firm and the H. Douglas Barclay Law Library at Syracuse University. She began working at the Syracuse Supreme Court Law Library in 1987 and has since worked her way up to her current role. Cindy is a member of AALL, ALLUNY, and NYLA.

April Bliss, Dunham Public Library

April Bliss has been nominated to represent public libraries in the eastern part of the CLRC region. April has been the library director of Dunham Public Library since July 2013. During her time at the library she has implemented numerous capital projects, involving grant writing and approval from local governing boards. April keeps the environment in mind when designing upgrades and programming for the library, adding healthy programming (community gardens, a hydroponic growing station, yoga, tai chi, and weight management, for example) to the potpourri of traditional library programming. April serves as a Library Director Liaison to the Mid York Board of Trustees and is currently the chair of the Director’s Advisory Council Steering committee. Prior to DPL she held the position of School Library System Director of Jefferson Lewis BOCES from 2007-2013 and earned her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Cortland, in 2010. April’s professional library career started as an elementary librarian. In 2000 April was hired as a teacher on special assignment in the library at Whitesboro Central School Districts’ Deerfield Elementary School. She was a certified Pre-K-6th grade teacher who fell in love with being a school librarian and went on to earn her Master of Library Science, School Library Media K-12 degree in 2002, from Syracuse University.

Additional nominees (either self-nominated or nominated by another individual) may be recommended directly to the Chair of the Nominating Committee, Jane Verostek by email. Any additional nominations should include a short bio and statement of interest. Additional nominations will be posted to the CLRC website as they are received. Voting for the two open positions will take place at the CLRC Annual Board Meeting, to be held on October 4 at the M.O.S.T.
