The New York Library Association (NYLA) is pleased to announce the incoming council members for 2020

Claudia Depkin, President-Elect (2019-2020) / President (2020-2021): Claudia Depkin is currently the Director of the Haverstraw King’s Daughter Public Library. During her time as a NYLA member, she has served as the NYLA Treasurer and President of the Leadership & Management Section. Depkin is also a co-creator of the NYLA Sustainability Initiative.

Grace Riario, Treasurer-Elect (2019-2021) / Treasurer (2021-2023): Grace Riario has been an active of member of NYLA, serving as a Councilor-at-Large from 2015-2018. She is currently the Interim Executive Director of the Ramapo Catskill Library System.

Simone Yearwood, Councilor-at-Large (Academic/Special) (2019-2022): Simone Yearwood is the Deputy Chief Librarian of Queens College-GSLIS. Yearwood’s interest in NYLA was spurred by her participation in the 2017 NYLA Academic, Research and Special Library Summit and she has previously worked with the New York Black Librarians Caucus (NYBLC).

Ana Canino-Fluit, Councilor-at-Large (School) (2019-2022): Ana Canino-Fluit is a Middle School Librarian at Rush-Henrietta Central Schools. Canino-Fluit has worked on the NYLA SSL/YSS Three Apples Award Committee and is dedicated to helping NYLA serve the ever-changing needs of the New York State Library Community.

Cassie Guthrie, ALA Chapter Councilor (2019-2022): Cassie Guthrie is the Director of the Greece Public Library and is currently finishing her term as NYLA Treasurer, and serves as the Chair of NYLA’s Legislative Committee. Guthrie is excited to represent NYLA and New York at the national level.

“As NYLA President, I am eager to work with this outstanding group of library leaders,” says NYLA President, Michelle Young, “their collective experience and talent will help us meet the needs of the New York library community and advance the strategic goals of NYLA.”
