2019 Digital Services User Group Meeting
May 29, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm EDT
FreeCLRC’s digital services and platforms continue to grow and evolve. New York Heritage Digital Collections has a new Metadata Dictionary and Exhibit platform. New York State Historic Newspapers has added several new titles from our region. Empire Archival Discovery Cooperative is graduating out of its beta phase and poised to begin accepting new contributors. Our Digital Dark Archive pilot was a success and we will be adding new materials for long-term digital storage. Our DigLab in-house digitization and metadata services have been utilized by a growing number of members.
The purpose of this user group meeting is to circle the wagons with existing contributors to CLRC’s digital services, as well as new potential contributors—to review the state of these platforms, share experiences across projects, and grapple with important topics in the field. All are encouraged to attend this user group meeting, from members embarking on their first digital projects to veteran contributors.
Agenda:
- Overview: Ryan Perry, CLRC’s Digital Collections Librarian, will give a brief overview of CLRC’s digital services, and how they fit together
- Updates: Ryan will give an update on NY Heritage, NYS Historic Newspapers, EmpireADC, and our other digital services. He’ll review recent changes to the platforms, as well as what’s in store for the future. Any and all questions are welcome.
- Feedback: A discussion of priorities for digital services. How can CLRC better serve our members in this area? What should we be focusing on as a group?
- Marketing mini-workshop: Ryan will give a primer on marketing digital collections, including recommendations for how contributors can better reach their end users.
A light lunch will be provided. Please indicate any dietary restrictions when you register.
If you would like to participate in the Digitization Special Interest Group, please email Ryan Perry (rperry@clrc.org) to be added to the Digitization listserv.
