Design Thinking: Taking Your School Library Website to the Next Level

January 17, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm EST

Free

Sponsored by OCM/Oswego School Library System

Presented by Jesi Buell, Librarian & Assoc Professor at Colgate

A strong virtual presence is extremely important for school libraries. While many are familiar with how to use website builders such as Google Sites, Weebly, and Wix, librarians have taken a variety of different approaches with the language used and the manner in which information is organized on these websites.

At this workshop, Jesi Buell, Instructional Design and Web Librarian and Associate Professor at Colgate University, will present the concept of “design thinking,” along with research on how users interact with library websites to help inform librarians on how to present information on their websites. Ways to incorporate accessibility features following ADA guidelines also will be discussed.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be given some time to use their new knowledge under Buell’s guidance. Those that want to stay for extended work on their websites may do so.

This event is co-sponsored by Central NY School Librarians.
