SIG: Digital Inclusion Coalition Meetup

March 27, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am EDT

Free
Did you know that Syracuse is one of the top 10 worst-connected cities in the U.S.? Nearly 1/4 of households in Syracuse have no Internet access, and communities across Central New York have averages ranging from 10-100%.
The digital divide—which is the economic, educational, and social inequalities between those who have computers and online access at home and those who do not—is very real in Central New York. Most library professionals are familiar with the challenges faced by those affected by the digital divide in conducting business, accessing health information, doing research, looking for employment, completing school assignments, securing government services and even communicating on a day-to-day basis with friends and family.
The CNY Digital Inclusion Coalition is a new group seeking equitable Internet in the Central New York region. We want to create a unified voice in support of digital inclusion efforts in our region, so that all individuals and communities in CNY have the information technology capacity needed for full participation in our society, democracy and economy.
We welcome anyone from a library in the CNY region to join us for a meeting to discuss digital inclusion and the role libraries play in promoting it, and to share ideas for moving forward with the CNY Digital Inclusion Coalition.
More info is on our website at onlinecny.org

If you cannot attend in person there will be a conference call option as well. Information will be provided prior to the meeting. Please RSVP accordingly below.
