Erie Canal Museum Event: Infrastructure of Empire Exhibit Opening and Curator Talk

May 13, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

The Erie Canal was the engineering marvel of its day, but has had far reaching consequences that could never have been imagined. In this upcoming exhibit and Curator Talk, we will explore how the canal was built, how it has changed the physical and social layout of the region, and how it continues to influence New York State.
Join Museum staff and volunteers for the opening of this new exhibit in the Weighlock Building’s upper exhibit gallery, with light refreshments provided. Check out the new exhibit and at 6PM hear remarks from Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh, followed by a curator-led tour of the exhibit with Hannah Lewis, Curator of Collections & Exhibitions.
Sponsored by a Humanities New York Action Grant with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this exhibition do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
