IN-PERSON Workshop: No, I’m Not Scared – An Inside Look at the Inside

Workshop Description:

Have you ever considered what it’s like to work with and around incarcerated individuals?  This presentation will provide insight into this specialized field, outline opportunities for pursuing similar roles, and answer your burning questions about working in a prison!

Learning Objectives

1. Learn about directing a library in a correctional facility setting.
2. Engage with librarians that work or have worked in correctional facilities.
3. Leave with tools to work with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals.

Please submit questions by July 29 so we can make sure we address them all in the session.

This workshop is being presented by a former prison library.

Note: This presentation is similar to what was presented at the NYLA 2025 Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs. We are bringing it locally for those who could not attend the conference.
