LILRC Webinar: US Holocaust Memorial Museum’s History Unfolded – US Newspapers and the Holocaust Project

July 20, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

How did newspapers on Long Island and throughout New York State report on Holocaust era events such as the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses, the German American Bund rally at Madison Square Garden and FDR’s plan to create a free port for refugees at Fort Ontario in Oswego? The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s History Unfolded: US Newspapers and the Holocaust project needs your help to find out.

In this remote/hands-on workshop, participants will learn what the History Unfolded citizen history project is, engage in a model program (a “research sprint”), and then discuss how the History Unfolded project can be a great fit for libraries looking to get patrons and staff using their microfilmed or digitized historical newspapers collections.

Program attendees must create a free History Unfolded account before the event in order to participate in the research sprint. Please create your History Unfolded account here in order to participate fully in this workshop.
