METRO Webinar: Capitalizing on OER for Equity in PK-12 – Finding and Using Open Teaching and Learning Resources
November 12, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST
With Shawna M. Brandle, Associate Professor of Political Science, Kingsborough Community College; Stacy Katz, Assistant Professor, Library, Lehman College; Jennifer Van Allen, Assistant Professor of Literacy Education, Lehman College; and Nicole Williams, Instructor, Library, Bronx Community College
Do you find that the curricular materials you are provided don’t always quite meet the needs of all your students? Never fear, Open Educational Resources (OER) are here! OER include freely available, openly licensed learning materials. Open licensing permissions allow you (and your students) to revise and remix these learning materials to customize them to your students’ diverse needs, fostering more equitable learning. In this workshop, you will learn more about OER and equity, why you want to use OER in your school, and where to find these materials.
The Digital Equity webinar series is organized by the New York State Library and the New York State Education Department, in partnership with the METRO Library Council and the Northern New York Library Network.
