SENYLRC Webinar: Stress Management and Self-Care

May 7, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

This presentation will be in webinar format, with plenty of time for Q&A. It is for library workers of all types, inducing public, school, academic and special. While our libraries are physically closed, we are still serving our members. During this time, psychological first aid is necessary for library workers as we navigate our new roles and responsibilities. Self-care is imperative, because if we don’t take care of ourselves, we will not be able to take care of others or meet their professional demands. Therefore, taking steps to manage your own stress and maintain your resilience is not a luxury or a sign of weakness – it’s an ethical responsibility!

In this webinar, we will cover topics related to:

  • Working with stress, both related to this current Covid-19 pandemic and other disasters
  • Managing relationships while under stress
  • Community stress management

As much as everyone looks forward to the time when the situation has stabilized and we reach the “new normal”, that’s simply not where most of us are at this point. A stable endpoint to this crisis will happen eventually, but while the outbreak continues and official guidance and policies keep changing, we need to focus on how to maintain our current adaptability.

Free for members, affiliate members, and other library workers in the region of other ESLN councils.
