May 29, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT

Webinar Description:

Libraries have been at the forefront of the games for learning movement, both digital games and more recently as part of the tabletop renaissance of the past few years. Tabletop RPGs likeĀ Dungeons & Dragons have never been more popular, but getting started can seem daunting to the uninitiated. This webinar will offer a crash course in tabletop games including a brief history of the genre, guidance on how to select games and resources for a library collection, the rudiments of how to become a Dungeon Master, and a discussion of the potential for tabletop games as a platform for developing future programs and information resources in your library.

Presenter Description:

Sturdy Knight is a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction studying the ways that educators and learners play together in multiplayer game environments. He has an MLIS from Syrcause, an M.A. in English literature from Middlebury, and is a level 9 Oathbound Paladin of the Promethean Council.
