Unlike traditional storytime models in which children are expected to sit quietly\, music and movement storytimes encourage children to embody concepts and interact with others. In this workshop\, expert children’s programmer Alyssa Jewell shows you how you can develop interactive learning experiences in which children engage in moving\, music-making\, and story drama. \nAbout the Presenter: \nAlyssa Jewell is a Children’s Outreach Specialist at the Hoover Public Library in Hoover\, Alabama. Her favorite part of the job is storytime. Alyssa is a teacher-turned-librarian\, certified to teach grades K-12 with a degree in Theatre Education and Psychology. Before entering the library world\, she taught theatre\, music and movement in a variety of educational settings. She is passionate about creating next-level storytimes infused with these practices and loves bringing stories to life for children and families. She has also co-written three musicals for young audiences and four indie-rock albums.
