Workshop: Long Overdue – Enhancing Library Services for LGBTQ Individuals & Families

Join us at the Mid York Library System office to learn more about how libraries can better help LGBTQ individuals and families. Lunch will be provided.

Workshop Description:

This interactive training assists library staff in improving access for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer-identified, and questioning (LGBTQ) communities. Participants will explore common challenges encountered by LGBTQ individuals of all ages and leave better equipped to serve as resources, particularly for youth. The training provides promising practices for communication, privacy, collections, and programming to better meet the needs of LGBTQ individuals and families.

Presenter Description:

For over 15 years, Lyndon Cudlitz has been providing training and technical assistance for libraries, schools, healthcare providers, and organizations seeking to enhance services for LGBTQ individuals. Though currently based in the NY Capital Region, Lyndon has worked for several LGBTQ organizations in the Northeast and has founded & directed youth leadership camps nationally. Additionally, Lyndon serves on a transgender advisory committee to the NYS Dept of Health and volunteers for an NYC-based LGBTQ organization. www.LyndonCudlitz.com
