CLRC is excited to announce the 2022 Library Staff All-Star!

Julie Horwat
Library Media Specialist – Holland Patent School District
This year’s Library Staff All-Star is Julie Horwat, the Library Media Specialist at the Holland Patent Central School District. According to her nomination, Julie “sets high standards for herself.” She sees everything as a learning opportunity and has the ability to adapt to each and every situation while complementing people’s strengths. Julie prides herself on collaborating with teachers to provide the best education to the students at Holland Patent. She’s hosted trivia games and escape rooms and acted as the advisor on their Battle of the Books in addition to completing a diversity audit and survey of students and teachers to provide high-interest resources. Her nominator stated that Julie is “an outstanding instructional leader and continues to strive for excellence.”

Library of the Year
Library of the year will be awarded to one CLRC member Library.
Who can be nominated?
Nominations for Library of the Year are open to any academic, public, school, or special library (this includes archives and museums) in Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, or Onondaga County. However, a library may not win the award two years in a row. View our member directory here.
Who can submit a nomination?
Nominations for Library of the Year must be self-submitted. Library staff can submit one nomination per library so please plan accordingly. Any nominations received after the first has been submitted will be disregarded.
When will the winners be announced and what do they receive?
Winners will be announced just before CLRC’s annual meeting in October of 2022 and are encouraged to attend the ceremony. Each winner will be awarded a plaque to display in their library.
What is the deadline for nominations?

Library Staff All-Star
Library Staff All-Star will be awarded to one staff member of a CLRC member library.
Who can be nominated?
Nominations for Library Staff All-Star are open to any academic, public, school, or special library (this includes archives and museums) staff member in Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, or Onondaga County. We truly mean any staff member – not just librarians. Library staff members may not win All-Star awards two years in a row. View our member directory here.
Who can submit a nomination?
Nominations for Library Staff All-Star can be submitted by any staff member of a member institution. Please only submit one nomination. We will not be accepting self-nominations for this award.
What should be included in the nomination?
Since these are open-text forms, please take your time and write thoughtful responses telling us what it is about the staff member that really stands out. How do they go above and beyond? Please note that nominees will not be judged on the number of nominations but rather on the substance of those nominations.
When will the winners be announced and what do they receive?
