The setting: the upstairs room at the beautiful Utica Public Library
The meal: bagels, cream cheese, fruit and coffee
The “dates”: representatives of Assemblyman Brindisi, Assemblyman Magee, Senator Griffo and Congressman Hanna
The conversation: library programs, support and increased aid
On Friday, December 11, CLRC hosted its annual eastern regional legislative breakfast. Library directors, staff, trustees and friends came to chat about programs their libraries are offering and to ask for continued support and funding.
Matthew Kopel, CLRC’s Library Services Manager, spoke about the CNYFi – Check Out the Internet program and the fantastic response the Jordanville Public Library is having with loaning the chromebooks and 4G hotspots.
Thank you to the staff at Utica Public Library for hosting the breakfast and to Rayan Aguam (Senator Griffo), John Stemen (Assemblyman Brindisi), Bob Sheuchenko (Assemblyman Magee) and Nate Crossett (Congressman Hanna) for joining us and taking pages of notes back to the legislators.
We look forward to seeing everyone at NYLA Advocacy Day in Albany on March 2. Watch for details on the CLRC bus.
Matthew also brought along a “Google cardboard” to demonstrate a very inexpensive way libraries can engage their patrons.
