CLRC’s member directory used to be a simple list of our dues-paying members. This didn’t do a great job of showing the hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of member and branch libraries as well as other institutions that inherit CLRC member benefits from their “parent” institutions.

Members at all levels

We wanted to change that. Our new, enhanced member directory lists not just those “level one” members, but also every library and institution that inherits their benefits. So if you’re a school librarian in our region, for instance, now you can see at a glance that (likely) yes, your library is a CLRC member, because it inherits member benefits from your BOCES SLS. Same goes for member and branch libraries across Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, and Onondaga County.

Sort multiple ways

Another major change that we’re excited about is that you can now sort CLRC members in multiple ways in the new directory, including by name or keyword, by county, by CLRC member type, and by member “level.”

Connecting the information community

So take a look at the new directory, sort different ways, browse through our members, and explore! Though there are currently 56 “level 1” members listed, there are SO MANY more of you who inherit member benefits from them. You might be surprised at how great the reach really is. We hope this might help you think about possible partnerships, collaborations, ways CLRC can help you, or at the very least to help show that we truly do value connecting the information community in our region.

Thanks & credits

Headshot of Sam Kluender

This enhanced directory was built by two Syracuse University School of Information Studies Information Management program seniors, Sam Kluender (left) and Jordan Spector (right), as their capstone project. Sam and Jordan worked enthusiastically and diligently through the fall semester to provide us with this solution, and we couldn’t be more grateful. They have even gone above and beyond to extend support past their deadline. A huge thank-you to Sam and Jordan!! We wish them success in this, their final semester at SU and in their future endeavors. Thanks also to their IST 466 professor, Marcie Sonneborn, for facilitating the opportunity.
