The Frankfort Library was able to offer four art workshops for teens. The first two workshops were held in October with local artist Becca Harris. They were Succulents & Smoothies and Cartooning & Coffee. In November the workshops included Art of Glass Fusion with Frankfort-Schuyler art teacher Cynthia Brownell and building a Keepsake Box with local small business owner Cindy Young. A fifth session was scheduled for jewelry making in December but ended being postponed until 2025 due to conflicting schedules before the holidays.

I am very grateful to CLRC for helping me attend the ARSL Conference this year in Chattanooga, TN. I attend this conference whenever possible because it addresses the needs and issues I encounter daily. I am always eager to network with librarians from around the country, maybe sharing ideas for programming or discussing common problems we face.
The Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) has been offering homebound delivery to patrons who have a hard time getting to the library since 2019. During that time, we’ve noticed that some of our senior patrons drop out of the program because they can no longer hold the heavier weight of a large print book.
The Central New York Library Resource Council Professional Development Award has allowed me to complete a class on Mastering Quickbooks Online. The class was virtual, and I watched my lessons in the mornings before work and studied from the handout. Some lessons were review, some were new, and some things I wish I had known when I started in my current position a year ago!

Collection analysis is a very important task that librarians must perform in order to insure that the collections we are sharing are diverse and contain accurate, up-to-date information.
Because of the CLRC’s professional development grant, I was able to take a 4-week class about the tools in embedded business librarianship. I’m currently the Outreach and Digital Services Librarian at the Utica Public Library. Being relatively new to my position, I was seeking out additional instruction that went beyond my MLIS in the realm of outreach.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to take this online course thanks to a CLRC Professional Development Award. During four weeks of online discussions and research, I learned about the history of interlibrary loan and codes, copyright compliance, ILL policies and procedures, and impacts on modern ILL services.
We used our grant to acquire equipment to create a BPL Virtual Reality Tour kit. The kit is available for organizations and businesses to check out, so they can make a VR Tour and post it online.
This year I was fortunate enough to have received the CLRC Professional Development Award to attend the 2021 New York Library Association Conference in Syracuse, NY. This was my second in-person conference since I got my MLIS in 2018. This year’s conference was fabulous as I met several new librarian friends to network with and learned new ways to positively impact my community.

This project was meant to bring together the concept of little libraries and digital forms of information in a community setting. We built 4 little libraries, 2 solar power systems and installed them in 4 quadrants of a rural/suburban town. Most importantly we began a collaboration between the school district, local entities and Town and State government to provide books and digital information at specific locations.
Thanks to the generosity of CLRC, I was able to attend my first-ever American Library Association conference (virtually).
The Library Skills Academy was very informative in providing a history of libraries and an in-depth look at library operations. I gained a strong understanding of customer service and how I can apply it in the academic setting.
This group meets to discuss how best to reach our community to convey a sense of urgency regarding the state of our planet. Our focus is on the three pillars of sustainability: sustainable practices are environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically feasible.
Thanks to the Central New York Libraries Resources Councils Professional Development Grant I was able to participate in NYLA’s 2021 Developing Leader’s Program! It was such a wonderful opportunity and rich experience that helped me strengthen and cultivate my leadership skills.
We hosted a Paint Party via Zoom on December the 2nd, from 6-7 PM. The teacher was Jill Rae Vennera, of Easels on the Gogh. We gave away 20 8 x 10 canvases, each with two brushes and five containers of paint. Attendance was actually 26, because some people had their own supplies. We received lots of positive feedback from the attendees and requests for another program.
We purchased items and assembled circulating kits in a backpack which include binoculars, a magnifying glass and short format, engaging reading material about local flora and fauna.
Thanks to CLRC’s professional development grant, I was able to attend a 6-week online course on the topic of web archiving, which is gaining a lot more attention in the archives profession.
With the assistance of the CLRC, I was able to participate in a Mindful Leadership certificate program that reviewed the precepts of secular mindfulness and suggested how a daily mindfulness practice helps develop non-judgmental awareness and communication strategies that enhance leadership effectiveness.
So much of the archival record is digital and this expands beyond electronic documents to include coded web pages and embedded content. Preserving these interfaces is a distinct skill set, which archivists are cultivating. With support from a CLRC Development Award, I was able to complete a two-month course offered by the iSchool at UW-Madison. Introduction to Web Archiving was taught by Samantha Abrams, the Web Resources Collection Librarian for Ivy Plus Librarians and encompassed all the essential components of basic web archiving.
Project Activities: MET270 (Solid Modeling) students helped create the fan design as part of a class project. See attached photos. From these design ideas, Professor Grieb created a final prototype design that we used to create twenty fan project kits. A Fan Creation LibGuide, instructional videos, and a survey were created for this level 1. The Level 2 content is in development, but the draft videos have recently been completed.
The Onondaga Free Library partnered with Westhill High School in the Westhill Central School District and created an enhanced learning opportunity for students and families around the theme of the Iditarod.
Biking by the Book is part of our larger effort to revamp the middle school library into someplace students want to come. Students, faculty, and staff were all asked the question, “What would make you want to come to the library more often?”

In November of 2019 I was able to attend the AASL 2019 conference in Louisville, Kentucky with the financial assistance of CLRC. This was the first national library conference I have ever been able to attend.

The Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville and the Everson Museum of Art have partnered together in the fall of 2020 on a new initiative, Art in Conversation: Jacob Lawrence & James Baldwin.
