Dunham Public Library in Whitesboro, NY seeks a Library Assistant to facilitate youth services programs this summer.

Under the supervision of the youth services librarians, the Library Assistant will be responsible for setting up, facilitating, and assessing programs for school-aged children. Strong interpersonal skills, particularly with children and young adults are necessary, as is the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all age groups and skill levels. The Library Assistant will also share responsibility for coordinating teen volunteers who are scheduled to assist with programs.

This position requires a person who possesses a friendly and approachable manner; is creative and innovative; exhibits good judgment, initiative, tact and courtesy; is able to work independently as well as to function as a team member; has a strong public service commitment and possesses the physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Knowledge of and comfort with computer technology is required, and an understanding of Minecraft and other related computer programs is a plus.

This is a seasonal position. The candidate will be expected to work 14 hours per week for 8 weeks, beginning June 26.
The expected salary for this position is $10.00/hour.

Required:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field
* Two years of professional experience in a library or classroom setting performing duties related to the administration of children/youth programs.
* Availability to work full days on Tuesdays and Fridays for 8 weeks, beginning June 26.
