Tour the only home where L. Frank Baum lived that is open to the public and the place where Frank married Maud, daughter of Matilda Joslyn Gage. Hear the stories of their engagement and the origin of Dorothy’s name. Imagine Frank telling Oz stories to the neighborhood children and his mother-in-law encouraging him to write down those stories.

L. Frank Baum was not just an author, actor and china salesman-he was also an early photographer! This special open house will feature an exhibit of reproduction photographs taken by Baum. Historian Sue Boland will be on hand Saturday and Sunday to answer your questions about Matilda Joslyn Gage, “the Mother of Oz.” Children’s play area available in the Baum Family Parlor.
