Technology Lending & Digital Literacy at CNY Libraries

CNYFi helps Central New York libraries lend out

hotspots and laptops to their patrons

CNYFi Logo_Option 2CLRC is excited to be conducting a pilot program with our public library members. CNYFi provides libraries with “internet kits” consisting of Chromebook computers and 4g wireless hotspot devices. These hotspots can connect up to nine devices to the internet at one time, giving entire families access to the internet. CNYFi starts with digital literacy workshops for the patron. They are then able to “Check Out the Internet” by borrowing a kit for three weeks. The program will be piloted in the Fall of 2015 at three libraries: White Branch (Onondaga County Public Library System); Southwest Community Center (Onondaga County Public Library System); and Jordanville Public Library (MidYork Library System). We sincerely hope to expand the program in 2016 to all member libraries who are interested in providing this service to their patrons.
