Join us at the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville for a follow up of last year’s popular workshop, “Getting Started: Creating and Sustaining a Friends Group for your Library.” The event will start at 10 a.m. but registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Workshop Description:

Continuing to develop your library’s Friends group is vital to sustaining the organization long-term. Get tips on membership recruitment and volunteer engagement. Networking within your community and constantly sharing your message will revitalize your core supporters and help to maintain the group’s crucial advocacy work for the library.

About the Presenters:

Lisa C. Wemett retired in 2009 from the Webster Public Library, located in a suburb of Rochester, where she was the assistant director and teen services librarian for thirteen years. Lisa continues to be involved in the library community statewide, currently volunteering as President for the Friends of the Library Section of New York Library Association (NYLA). In 2014, Lisa was the recipient of NYLA’s first “Above and Beyond Award,” recognizing her continuous contributions to NYLA in many leadership capacities.

Terry Mulee serves as Second Vice President of the FLS/NYLA Executive Board. She is also editor for the “Friends News and Notes” quarterly newsletter and develops the Section’s web page as the FLS Web Editor. Terry is a life-long and Lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. She enjoys photography and has displayed her work at local arts councils’ galleries and juried art shows, including solo exhibitions at two nursing homes in Rochester. Terry presents travelogues at local libraries with her travel companion Lisa and throws great parties!
