Canals and Railroads, Collaboration and Competition is on display at the Erie Canal Museum (a CLRC Heritage member). This exhibit portrays the beginnings of New York’s Canal Era and its early railroads with educational panels from the ALCO Historical and Technical Society in Schenectady, artwork from the Erie Canal Museum and items from the collections of Richard Palmer and the Library of Congress. Artworks include two paintings by Edward Lamson Henry, an engraving by James Irza Arnold and an authentic map of the network of canals and railroads covering New York State, drafted in 1864.

Admission to the Erie Canal Museum is free with a $5 suggested donation. Hours are 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10:00 a.m.3:00 p.m. Sunday.

The exhibit runs through April 30. The Museum is located at 318 Erie Boulevard East in Syracuse.
