Around sixty Central New York library staff and supporters converged on the State Legislative Office Building and Capitol in Albany to meet with regional Assemblymembers and Senators.  Restored funding for libraries and construction aid was the focus of the discussions. Governor Cuomo is proposing a 4% budget cut.

We had a full day’s schedule.  Seventeen meetings were held back to back, from 9:30 am through 3:00 pm.

During the lunch hour, a rally was held in the LOB well.  Over one thousand supporters from around the state gathered to hear speeches from Assemblywoman Didi Barrett, Chair of the Assembly Library Committee and Senator Patty Ritchie, Chair of the Senate Library Committee, as well as other legislators in full support of restoring (and adding) funding to libraries.

NYLA says it was the largest crowd to date!
