CDLC Webinar: Rethinking Academic Streaming Video Acquisition

June 7, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Please join us for a workshop on Rethinking Academic Streaming Video Acquisition, presented by Charlie Remy, Associate Professor, and Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library.

COVID-19 has significantly increased demand for streaming video while, at the same time, many libraries are facing budget cuts. Learn how a mid-sized academic library is building a high-quality collection of perpetual access streaming videos by purchasing content directly from filmmakers/independent distributors and hosting these videos on a secure streaming server. Included in the presentation will be a discussion of average costs, the procurement process, set-up and maintenance workflows, and more. Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences with acquiring streaming video.

Charlie Remy is the Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he has worked for nearly a decade. He has a MSLIS from Simmons University and a BA from Elon University. Charlie enjoys speaking Spanish, reading books, and travelling (when we’re not in a pandemic).
