Calling libraries to show off their STEAM…

The 2017 Great New York State Fair will feature a new exhibit highlighting exciting careers in several technical trades where the need for qualified workers is rising fast. The Fair is now accepting applications from potential exhibitors and participants for the STEAM exhibit that will be held in the Science and Industry Building.

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) exhibit will feature hands-on activities, workshops and demonstrations aimed at stimulating creativity in young fairgoers to encourage them to consider careers in related fields. Federal government statistics indicate that employment in the science, technology, engineering and math fields will grow by 9 million by 2022.

Examples of projects and fields that will be displayed include: drones, medical projects, advanced manufacturing, virtual reality, robotics, citizen science, wearable technology, soldering, 3D-printed prosthetics, architecture, stop-motion animation, and more. The exhibit will feature an area in which people with an enthusiasm for a particular topic will create projects as fairgoers watch.

The New York State Fair runs from August 23 to September 4, 2017.
