One of CLRC’s regional librarians, Sue Kowalski, was appointed to the New York State Board of Regents Advisory Council on Libraries.

Sue is currently the school librarian at the Pine Grove Middle School in East Syracuse. She received her MLS from Syracuse University and is a recipient of the Syracuse University iSchool Alumni Impact Award. Sue was a Library Journal “Mover & Shaker” in 2016. Her professional activities include: Past President of NYLA-SSL (Section of School Librarians), Affiliate Liaison for New York State with AASL (American Association of School Librarians), NYLA Councilor-at-Large, Syracuse University Adjunct Professor, Trustee for the Northern Onondaga Public Libraries and former Legislative Committee member at CLRC.

The Regents Advisory Council on Libraries works with the officers of the State Education Department in developing comprehensive statewide library and information policy, and makes recommendations to the Regents concerning the implementation of the program. The Council is broadly representative of libraries and statewide constituencies served by the New York State Library.

Sue’s term will run from November 1, 2017 to September 30, 2022.
