Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies is currently seeking catalogers who perform cataloging of library materials as 50% or more of their work responsibilities to participate in a research study.

The study, “Exploring the Role of Repertoire in Library Cataloging,” is designed to reveal what kinds of prior knowledge catalogers draw upon while working. Participants in the study will be asked to conduct their normal cataloging work, in their normal job environment, while researchers observe them. Participants will be encouraged to speak aloud during the session, explaining what they are doing and why, and researchers may prompt the participants with additional questions during the session.

Participation will require about 1 hour of time, and participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card at the conclusion of the session. All information recorded during the session will be kept confidential.

If you are eligible and are interested in participating, or would like further information about the study, please contact the principal investigator, Dr. Rachel Clarke (rclark01@syr.edu) or research assistant Brian Dobreski (bjdobres@syr.edu).
