Webinar: Whole Person Librarianship – An Introduction to Library-Social Work Collaboration
December 4 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Libraries across the nation and the world are hiring social workers to support library staff and patrons. But how do you get started? What do you do if you can’t afford or don’t need a full-time social worker in your library? This webinar will provide an overview of the rise of library-social work collaborations and describe the basics of scalable options for every library. The presentation will conclude with learnings from social work to improve public service regardless of whether a library is in active collaboration with social services. The information is grounded in original research for the book, Whole Person Librarianship: A Social Work Approach to Patron Services (Libraries Unlimited 2019), and should appeal to public and academic librarians and managers, as well as social workers and students who are interested in collaboration.
